JDA Software Announces Release of JDA Shelf-Connected Cloud

By admin, 2 maja, 2012, No Comment

This hyper-scalable solution enables supplier and retailer trading partners to effectively collaborate at the shelf level for improved on-shelf availability, increased competitive advantage, enhanced profitability and optimal promotion and pricing plans

JDA® Software Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS), The Supply Chain Company®, today announced the release of JDA® Shelf-Connected Cloud, a revolutionary new solution that offers the unparalleled scale needed to connect manufacturers’ supply chains to the retail shelf.

JDA® Shelf-Connected Cloud is designed to help supplier and retailer trading partners effectively collaborate at the shelf level to improve on-shelf availability, remove unnecessary inventory across enterprises and set new strategies that leverage cost savings across the entire value chain. Trading partners that collaborate using this new paradigm will be able to offer their joint consumers a new level of competitive pricing by connecting their supply chains.

In a shelf-connected supply chain, suppliers collaborate with their distribution and retail customers to plan an optimal product assortment and planogram for each store or store cluster, then develop and synchronize their demand and inventory replenishment plans driven by consumer sales. This framework integrates a supplier’s planning and execution processes with a retailer’s planning and execution processes to better align all processes with consumer demand. By having a view of the cross-enterprise supply chain flows, partners can develop strategies that consider the cost savings across enterprises and leverage it to deliver more value and innovation to their consumers.

Suppliers can collaborate with retailers to create a time-phased retail order plan. Many large retailers today still struggle with developing or completing accurate, bottom-up time-phased order plans that are driven from shelf sell-through. So, suppliers who leverage a shelf-connected solution can strategically elevate their partnership levels with retailers. Benefits of the solution include the ability to:

• Scale to the shelf-level
• Deliver fast time to value by leveraging the cloud
• Quickly see the effects of assortment, space and supply chain strategies and their impact on performance and financial results
• Deliver a collaboration platform to drive efficiencies across enterprises and their inter-connected supply chains
• Align the people, processes and tools necessary to focus attention on the critical few actions that will drive significant and immediate results
• Develop optimal supply chain, promotion and pricing plans driven from shelf-level demand signals

As part of the comprehensive JDA® Shelf-Connected Cloud solution suite, JDA Software today also announced the release of JDA® Collaborative Shelf Planning & Analytics. Suppliers managing sell-through at the shelf must be equipped to handle the associated exponential increase in planning intersections and decisions. JDA’s supply chain planning architecture is unique in its proven ability to scale to meet the challenges of driving decisions from the shelf. JDA Collaborative Shelf Planning & Analytics enables companies to manage and transform mountains of data into actionable information. This solution drives visibility and enables analytics such as out-of-stock detection, sell-through analysis and inventory performance directly from the shelf.

“In today’s ultra-competitive markets, the ability to manage products across multiple channels and the entire product lifecycle becomes essential to maintaining profitability and competitiveness,” said Fred Baumann, vice president, industry strategies, JDA Software. “By leveraging shelf-connected supply chain practices, trading partners become aligned on not just the next order, but on the larger horizon of orders. The insights associated with these activities are leveraged by both the supplier and retailer to drive higher consumer satisfaction in a mutually beneficial and profitable way.”

Nokia Asha models now supported on Nashua Mobile’s Xtreme Data

By admin, 2 maja, 2012, No Comment

Nashua Mobile, the independent telecommunications service provider in the Reunert Group, has added the Nokia Asha 201, Nokia Asha 300 and Nokia Asha 303 to the selection of Nokia devices it supports on its flat-rate Xtreme Data package.

The Nokia Asha range will be available in store as of 7 May 2012. For just R59.00 per month – on top of standard contract charges – professionals and consumers will be able to enjoy access to email, instant messaging, browsing and social networking on these devices. The predictable and fixed monthly cost removes the uncertainty associated with other data rate plans and eliminates the chance of ‘bill shock’. The package is subject to fair usage policies.

The Nokia Asha 303 and 201 blur the line between smartphones and feature phones with a blend of rich functionality, ease of use and affordability. The Nokia Asha 201 offers a great Qwerty keyboard, while the Nokia Asha 303 integrates Qwerty and Touch into a great user experience and the Nokia Asha 300 offers a keypad and touchscreen.

All three devices offer fast and easy access to the Internet, integrated social networking, messaging and world-class applications from the Nokia Store. Nokia Asha mobile phones make use of the new Nokia Web browser for Series 40 with up to 90% data compression. This means smaller downloads, pages that load fast, look great, and are easy to read.

Says Nashua Mobile Managing Director, Chris Radley: “We are excited to make the Xtreme Data package available on a new range of Nokia handsets, giving users even more choice of mobile phones that they can use with a flat-rate data package. In the next few months, we hope to add even more smartphones to the selection of devices supported on the Xtreme Data package.”

Xtreme Data is currently also available on Nokia X2-01 and Nokia C3 mobile phones based on the Series 60 platform, and the Nokia N8, Nokia E5 and Nokia E7 from Nokia’s smartphone range.

Nashua Mobile’s Xtreme Data service works by routing data from the handset to Nashua Mobile’s shared GSM data access point names (APNs) from Vodacom and MTN. Web access is controlled and managed intelligently by Nashua Mobile’s infrastructure partners, giving the customer a seamless experience that enables access to all their communication, social networking and information.

Connected TV Set Shipments Will Grow to 70 Percent during 2016, According to IMS Research

By admin, 2 maja, 2012, No Comment

Approximately 25 percent of the TV sets shipped globally in 2011 were internet-connected, a figure forecasted to approach 70 percent of total TV shipments during 2016, resulting in more than $117 billion in revenues, according to a new report by IMS Research (recently acquired by IHS Inc. (NYSE:IHS)).

“Internet connectivity is becoming a standard on high-end TV sets, and it’s increasingly being added to mid-end televisions,” says Veronica Thayer, market analyst, IMS Research, and author of the Connected TV Sets – World – 2012 report. “TV set manufacturers’ product launch plans are expected to drive the majority of the growth for connected TV sets during the forecast period.”

The study also reveals that proprietary operating systems will remain the main type used by manufacturers in the next five years, although Android OS will start gaining presence and it’s expected to reach a significant share of the market by 2014. IMS Research’s forecast shows that during 2016, more than 80 percent of the connected TV sets shipped worldwide will have built-in Wi-Fi and close to 30 percent will have advanced user interface features such as motion, gesture or voice.

“Connected TV sets will help boost sales of flat panel TVs as the awareness and the demand for Smart TV features increases,” Thayer adds. “However, the impact that internet-connectivity will have on total TV set growth will be diminished by the availability of other internet-connected devices such as Apple TV, Roku and game consoles.”

Veronica Thayer will deliver the keynote presentation Market Drivers and Inhibitors for Connected TV at the Connected TV World Summit 2012 on Wednesday, 2 May, 2012 at One Wimpole Street, London. To schedule a meeting during the event please contact Clive Savage Tel: +44 (0) 07824 706 402

HP Enables Telecoms to Deploy and Manage Applications for Business Customers

By admin, 2 maja, 2012, No Comment

Enterprise “app store” is heart of mobility platform

HP recently announced a mobility platform for communications service providers (CSPs) that enables them to help enterprise customers increase productivity by supporting employee use of smartphones and tablets.

The HP Enterprise Mobility platform enables enterprises to provide internal mobile applications (apps) to employees so they can access company data quickly, easily and securely on their personal mobile devices.

The core components of the HP Enterprise Mobility platform are:

HP Enterprise Mobile App Store enables CSPs to help enterprises create, certify, distribute and manage ”mobilised” versions of company apps for employees. Hosted at the CSP site and managed for the enterprise, the HP Enterprise Mobile App Store provides employees an easy-to-use portal for downloading apps.

Multichannel capability supports personalised employee access, regardless of device. Employees can easily browse for apps. Multiple languages are supported to enable regional app stores.

Multicatalog management enables enterprises to offer apps to different kinds of users by structuring access based on employee location, job type or other criteria.

Application life cycle management enables enterprises to refresh apps for all device types, track usage, and decommission apps at end of life.

Integrated mobile device testing ensures that apps perform properly across device types and in varied usage scenarios.

HP Enterprise Mobility Gateway enables CSPs to help enterprise employees access the right enterprise data at the right time by connecting mobile applications with an enterprise’s back-end systems. Available on the customer premises and as a service from the CSP, the gateway enables developers to create data-rich apps that run effectively even when bandwidth is limited.

High-performance access is enabled with server- and client-side caching, smart browsing, and offline viewing of large data sets.

Secure exposure of back-end systems and data to mobile applications is enabled by user authentication and authorisation.

Lifecycle management of programming interfaces of back-end systems is facilitated with usage and reporting tools.

Composite service development enables mobile apps to access and combine data from multiple back-end systems to create aggregated, high-value information for mobile users.

“Service providers are at a point where they need an enterprise service delivery platform, not just a telco service delivery platform,” said Glen Ragoonanan, lead analyst, Infrastructure Solutions and SDP Strategies, Analysys Mason. “It makes sense to work with a partner like HP that has both telco and IT heritage and can bring the two worlds together.”

Based on the widely deployed HP Service Delivery Platform (SDP), the HP Enterprise Mobility platform features a flexible service-oriented architecture. CSPs can adapt the core HP components to suit specific, complex needs, and they can integrate other HP and third-party solutions to further enhance functionality.

“CSPs must invent new business models to win in a 4G world,” said Mary Brady, Principal Consultant, Enterprise Communications and Media Solutions, HP South Africa. “HP’s offering enables CSPs to generate new revenue by helping enterprises tap the productivity potential of smartphones and tablets used by employees.”

In addition to offering mobility services to enterprises, CSPs can use the HP platform to manage mobility services for their own employees, including the development and distribution of new apps.

Designed for CSPs to offer to their enterprise clients, the HP Enterprise Mobility platform also will be sold directly to enterprises by HP, as an on-premises solution.

The HP Enterprise Mobility platform complements previously announced offerings in the HP Mobile Application Services portfolio.
